Welcome to the Professorship of Applied Sciences in Computer Vision & Data Science of NHL Stenden

The Dutch AI coalition states that artificial intelligence is a strong determinant for maintaining and expanding our international competitive positions. The processing of image data is one of the biggest challenges in this respect as it is estimated to account for 80% of all data in the world. As a nationally recognized center of expertise in the field of pattern recognition and image processing, the Computer Vision & Data Science professorship of NHL Stenden has been contributing to the establishment of artificial intelligence in the Netherlands for over 25 years.

The four focus areas of the Computer Vision & Data Science professorship are: high-performance image acquisition, applied computer vision, state-of-the-art data science and specialized education. Although the application is broad, from precision agriculture to medical, the goal and approach is the same: developing new knowledge in the field of computer vision and data science by working on state-of-the-art applied research projects in collaboration with students, staff and business experts.
